About Us

Why We Started

Clinic to Couch Care™ was born from personal experience. Between our own families and our professional lives, we saw firsthand how difficult it can be to receive needed treatment when dependable support is not available.

Our co-founders, Lance Schnell and James Schaffer, came to this work through different paths, but with the same conviction: no one should have to delay or miss needed care because transportation and support are unavailable.

Lance spent years sharing caregiving responsibilities for both of his parents. His mother was a 34-year breast cancer survivor. His father, a military veteran, faced serious health challenges after years of hard work and sacrifice for his family and country.

Today, Lance also supports his sister through debilitating migraines while managing chronic pain of his own. These experiences gave him a deeply personal understanding of how difficult it can be to receive needed care - and how much pressure can fall on family and friends who are trying to help while balancing work, family, and the demands of their own lives.

James has spent much of his life caring for people when they are at their most vulnerable. For more than 20 years, he has helped individuals navigate illness, disability, daily living challenges, and recovery as part of his professional career. His understanding of care is also personally rooted through caring for family members and close friends.

Through years of personal and professional caregiving, James came to believe that quality care is not about following a checklist. It is about listening, noticing discomfort before someone has to ask, following through on promises, and helping every client feel safe, respected, and genuinely cared for.

Together, our founders recognized two problems that deserved a better solution.

Too often, getting to and from treatment places an unfair burden on family and friends whose own responsibilities do not stop.

At the same time, dedicated care attendants are often expected to shoulder enormous responsibility while receiving little support, limited respect, and compensation that does not reflect the importance of their work.

Clinic to Couch Care™ was built to solve both problems.

Our mission is simple: to bridge the gap between the clinic and the comfort of home so clients can focus on receiving care, families can focus on being family, and care attendants can focus on providing exceptional support.

The Company We Are Building

We believe exceptional client care begins with exceptional care attendants.

Clients deserve care attendants who are prepared, attentive, dependable, and respectful. Care attendants deserve clear responsibilities, thoughtful scheduling, proper preparation, fair treatment, and leadership that supports them.

When attendants are respected, well prepared, and supported, they can focus on what matters most—providing outstanding care to every client.

Our goal is to help clients receive the treatment they need without placing the full burden on family and friends, while building a company where care attendants are valued for the important work they do.
